What the heck is a 'Doodleworx' anyway?
Doodleworx is a word to describe my doodle works of art! My name is Kevin Jones and I'm an illustrator and writer from Beaumont, Alberta, Canada. I create original, cartoon characters and write humorous stories about them. Imagination is everything to me.
Always feeling like a bit of an outsider; I lived in my own world of imagination as a child. I think that I get my twisted sense of humor from having lived in eight cities and three provinces in this vast land that we call Canada. As the son of a former R.C.M.P. (Royal Canadian Mounted Police), we were transferred every three years or so. Now I am married to a busy, executive, business woman who continued the gypsy-like trend.
Luckily for me, wherever I went, I always brought my vibrant imagination with me, as it was easily transplanted (even if I wasn't!). It started as a child, where I created my own pop-up books, wrote whimsical stories, had elaborate battles with my Gi-Joe's and Transformers, and constantly doodled cartoons. Creativity has always been my life's blood, and I want to bring the ideas in my imagination to life.
Working in mostly digital now with the Procreate app on the ipad Pro, I also still do work in pencil, Prismacolour pencils and Copic markers and ink. Every October, I do Inktober (created by Jake Parker) on Instagram, which is an ink drawing every day of the month. Every week I draw original art and post a story about it on Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr. My current project is illustrating my first children's book 'The New Gnu,' which I have already written. When I am not creating art, or writing about it, I am the chauffeur, manager, head chef and cheerleader to our two, basketball-playing teenage sons who are 14 and 16 (our eldest is 6' 8" and 260 lbs!).
